νόστος nostos

The term nostalgia describes a longing for the past, often in idealized form. The word is made up of two Greek roots (νόστος nostos "returning home", and άλγος algos "pain"), to refer to "the pain a sick person feels because he wishes to return to his native home, and fears never to see it again".

its wierd how thingz creap up on you, lurks back into your life when you least expect it. but its all alright in the end.

i was talking to sway the other day; he told me that he was going to write his memoirs. he asked me what mine would be called, and i think thats it...

its all alright in the end

hazy shade of monday.

my life: computer lab, class, dining hall misadventures, library, library, library, library, coffee, candle light vigil

today is monday. its hazy, almost raining- about to come down on mah shoulders.

i would like to note on this monday, david donovan bowie christian- an ole school homie from the most glamorous city by the sea. i went to high school with david and had the pleasure of jamming with him on several occasions. he also he took over the nado high school talent show if i remember correctly with "magistrate" (pulled the big W right?!??). and i even had the pleasure of having him visit me in santa snooze last fall.

anyway, his creation, LOVEFEST, is splendid. it will make your monday delightful. his artwork is also divine and should be noted (and fucking loved).

thanks, david. i'm listening to your jams today, hoping that they pull me through his hazy shade of monday

haggis.

i felt the pains of higher education last night in a cracked out all-nighter. it was late (or rather early) and there was a gentle purr at mah door; boss cat haggis was here to play. the pimp came strolling into my room and perched himself on my comforter.

i love love love love love that little kitten. don't get me wrong, haggis is a neighborhood force. he rolled in one night with a fat lip from a block rumble. wasabi turf is haggis territory.

i love the funk out of the feline. i would never ever do any of the following:

some crazy a$$es do hella funky thingz to their kittenz

best thing ever.

i need to get out of the library. four posts in one day is unhealthy. but this new effort by m. ward does mah body sooo good

nesting.

i know i've already blogged about this, but some things deserve some revisiting.

herzog and de mueron's bird's nest is one of the most beautiful structures i have ever seen in my entire life. while most monuments actualize from inspiration found in the natural environment- the synthesis of outside world and the constructed as never so masterfully been projected in physical space like this monument to international society and sport.

it hits a chord. a birds nest is a home, carefully constructed from twigs, hair clipping and other organic matter found in ranging places. im building my own birds nest lately, trying to piece together little bits of things that compliment and enhance my life- drawn from all sources to form a cozy place that is familiar, while still a place to grow. all birds take flight eventually and build new nests.

my wasabi nest does me good.
